I honestly think that the type of older men who go for younger women and actually seek out younger women are the kind of men older women wouldn’t want to be with in the first place. Why would one want to be in a relationship with some younger than them except to have someone to look up to you, agree with you, and not challenge you?
Everyone has baggage…I am 28 but probably had way more baggage when I was 21! I have found that the older guys that hit on me aren’t as cool as they’s like to think, and are just looking for a woman who will say yes to everything, either out of niavete or a submissive personality. I honestly think that the person who posted the article hit on the right things but doesn’t fully understand the dynamics of it.

Younger women are okay. Older women are liked by younger men because the older women know what they want and say so.

Older men who prefer younger women may not everything they are looking for, but I think it is mainly about ego and sex.

Baggage is not gender specific. I know, and sometimes it’s how you carry that baggage, not really that you have it.

I date younger women because I have never been married and I want to sire children. I don’t want teenage children from a women who was already married. I want to marry a woman who has never been married and who wants children. That is the true reason for dating younger women.

Hmmm…Interesting post. What about younger women being more naive? Lesser experienced? and more easily open and less set in their ways compared to older women? Not so much baggage - but so much more clueless. Could that could be an appealing trait? Baggage, after all, although such an unsightly word; we all possess it.

This is coming from someone who married an older man. From a personal note, we fell in love not because of the age gap but the ability to learn and want to become better people because of one another’s presence.As someone so young at the time - He gave me direction. And he, as someone who was already established and content with his direction in life - Wanted to take me along for the ride.

Marriage is now going on eight years and no end or issues in site. I would hate to think that “young” is a qualification as dating brownie points. Unless “flings” are the actual goal, than shallow interests are entirely understandable.

No one is perfect, right?

I am loving reading the comments from all three people who responded to this post. First and foremost, I want to say, I appreciate the writer’s honest feelings. As a senior who still is able to turn several heads and has been in a fling or two with younger men, I find it very interesting that he states the older women bring baggage. Hahahahaha, every age has baggage from darn near birth to 90, but this is only my opinion. I like the comparision with the cars too. That made me laugh. Remember, some guys love classic cars.

I agree that usually it is a man’s ego that drives him to younger women. But I feel most men from 20 something to 80 something has that ego thing and whenever he can get his ego stroked, he is a happy camper. I am talking about the ego and not the anatomy. Thanks for this change to write my first reply or comment to a post. It’s been exhilarating and brought back some fond memories of my young men/older woman fling.

Why are men consistently bashed for going after younger women, but older woman are idolized and called “Cougars”. Isn’t this a double standard? When we see an older man with a younger woman we automatically think either “pervert” or “mid-life crisis” when the shoe is on the other foot we say, GOOD FOR HER! Any relationship, no matter the ages involved….there is always baggage. If you find a person without baggage, they must be a robot.

I have found that women come with baggage at any age, not just older women. Either it is the relationships they had with the parents, siblings and how damaging they were or it is the pain felt at the breakdown of their last marriage.
My experience was that after my 13 year marriage ended, I was drawn to women aged around 20 to 30, young, sexy and all that. What I worked out for myself was, the last time I was single I was of that age group and I was still operating on that time scale.
Had a lot of fun, but now my partner is actually 3 years older, still with baggage of course!

Really is that what you think? How about the investment needed to maintain a younger women? and what happens when your income drops will she still be there? Yes maybe a lot of us lust for a younger women but if we had our druthers most of us would chose loyalty and compatibility.
