You know that every one is on the fad of going green and clean energy. Just like they’re on the fad of getting rid of trans fats. I mean they were just on the kick of no-carbs or very low carbs. So they’re on the kick of clean energy but like morons they don’t bother to read the whole report or even consider the consequences of their actions for example.

E-85 the cleaner burning gas that everyone should switch to. Except for the little fact that only the car emissions are cleaner than traditional gas. The truth is that to produce one gallon of E-85 alone coughs up more green house gases than methods used to produce a galleon of gas with the car emissions included.

The electric or hybrid cars well this is a nice idea except where’s the power going to come from. I know that people say that the cars will be charged durning the off peak hours at night. Wait a minute though if everyone is charging their car at night then wouldn’t that make a new peak time for power usage. Now where is this extra power going to come from?

A car that runs on hydrogen a wonderful idea and hopefully in the future it’s available but the fact of the matter is the technology is not there yet. The cost to make the tanks brings the vehicle’s price tag into the one to five million dollar range. It’s the same story with the battery powered car. Good idea but the tech ready to make it cost feasible to the average person.

Now the other big gripe from the eco people that can only see the world through green eyes and screw everyone else is power plants. But that’s a post for another time. You know believe it or not I like the idea of Green energy I do but that’s what it is at the moment a good nice idea. If he half assed rush the new energy we’ll just end up making things a hell of a lot worse, like with the e-85 dibacle.

This post is to all the people that think it’s actually possible to waste water. IT’S NOT! You can waste your life, you can waste food, you can waste your life savings on hookers and gum, you can even waste space but you can’t waste water. No how, no way. Why? because the laws of physics! Matter can not be simply taken out all it can be is changed. Take when a forest burns to the ground. The matter that made up the trees isn’t gone forever just like that. It’s been changed into the simpler compounds it once was in the forms of carbon and nitrogen to name a few. Oh and all the water that was in the tree goes up into the pretty sky to eventually fall back down to earth.

When a person leaves the faucet on or waters their lawn the water that does down the drain or in the storm sewer is not wasted. It goes into great big pipes to a treatment plant that sends it back to all of us. The water that goes into the ground isn’t wasted either. After going into the ground it either comes back up to the surface, finds a underwater vein to grab onto or combines with other minerals to continue life on this planet.

Now maybe in the desert it might be a small problem. But here’s a novel concept MOVE OUT OF THE FUCKING DESERT! Come here to my state of Minnesota. We get flooded every damn year. We use water to clean off our driveways, sidewalks, houses, streets, almost everything else to. Why do we do this because we know that water can’t really be wasted, maybe. More likely it’s because we choose to live in a area that’s HOSPITIPLE to life as we know it! It’s a free country you can live where ever you want. You know the animals move away once the water dries up and the plants die off. Humans on the other hand are the only creatures that stay in a desolate wasteland.

In the end however it’s not possible to waste water it’s not. It violates one of the basic laws of physics and reality. To that end if you are so concerned about water  do what the animals usually do when the water dries up. MOVE!

Just because grass grows in Las Vegas, like it does in Orange County when water is poured upon it, doesn’t mean it should be there.   If you live in Southern California like I do, please remember that you live in a DESERT.  If you must keep your lawn, take into consideration when your sprinklers go off (early morning hours ONLY), how long they are on (5 minutes), and the frequency (Never in winter–hand water potted plants and new trees/shrubs until established. 2-3 times a week in summer–just enough to keep them from dying off.)

Oh, and what comes out of the sprinklers should actually go onto your lawn, not onto the sidewalks or driveway.  Watch your sprinklers in action one of these days and see what they are doing– that’s the only way to catch leaks and misguided sprinkler heads that waste huge amounts of water because we think the automatic sprinkler timer has everything under control. Duh!

Is your green, grassy lawn REALLY that important? ! ? ! ? !  That’s just as stupid as throwing plastic, newspaper, and aluminum in the trashcan.  Does anybody do THAT anymore?

You know who I’m talking about I’m sure. People like Green Peace, Peta, GoGreen.com or basically anyone that will ram info down your throat and then call you evil if you dare have an opinion that differs from theirs. One thing right off the bat I have a question for you the reader how many pamphlets or flyers have you gotten from these people. how many trees died for all that Paper HMMMMMMM?

Well I won’t go after the groups I’ll save that for another time. In this post I’m just going to lay out some facts for you good people, Facts that these guys trust me DO NOT want you to know. These are historical and or scientific FACTS!!!

The earth is 6 billion years old or there about and in that time it’s been through more hell then we could ever unleash upon it. For example it’s survived world wide floods (not Noah’s Ark) world wide fires, it’s had its atmosphere burned away, it’s had the CO2 content up to almost 60 or 70 percent, Meteorite Stikes, Comet Hit, Asteroid punches and the Occasion of being a radioactive waste land.

And you know what the earth had been just FINE!!!!!!!! How do I know well all the above mentioned stuff happened before humans were ever on this earth. Far more detrimental events then we could ever produce have happened to the blue jewel and it bounced back just fine. Plus as a species we’re the goddamn rookie on the block we’ve only been around for roughly a hundred thousand years compared to let’s say the Crocodile with is 200 million years old. And in that time we’ve only been engaged in heavy industry for the last hundred years. So in a century we have the arrogance to think that we did what NONE of the above mentioned natural events could do and that’s kick the earth’s ass. Right?

Do you people really think that a few plastic bottles and bags were all it took! Here’s another thing to consider matter cannot be changed that means at some point that the matter that make’s up plastic will be changed into something. I mean if it can’t bio-degraded then the earth can always send a wildfire or two to take care of the plastic. The Earth has repaired the atmosphere severel times in the past.

Another thing for all of you to take into consideration that MOST of you eco warriors or people that say GREEN IS THE ONLY WAY are part of a fucking FAD. remember back in the eighties when you we’re all a little younger everything a MCDonald’s came in wonderful Styrofoam Turn the clock back another ten years to the seventies and everyone and their mom was worried about global COOLING! By know in 2009 we were all soupossed to be buried under a goddamn glacier! And a little over thirty years later it’s the exact opposite! You people do relize we’ve only been keeping accurate weather records for the last hundred years or so. Read your history books people the always be accounts of weird periods of time where it’s hotter or colder for periods of years. In the end this green kick i predict has another ten years or so left in it before it’s as dead a disco.

And before you say that I’m ignorant or whatever I’ve read and researched global warming myself and I’ve drawn something of a surprising conclusion that most of this bullshit is based on very little fact a lot of supposition and backed by a whole lot of people scared of their own shadow.

In conclusion  I’d like to say a few things one is that we may be going through global warming but it may be a naturle as rain. Restating we’ve only been keeping records of weather for a microscopic fraction of the earths history of weather that BILLIONS of years old. Lastly I live in Minnesota and we had one of the coldest winters ever. In Febuary it was so goddamn cold for the whole month I was not even able to compose a thought in my brain. Every time I tried a few seconds in the thought would get replaced with FUCK IT’S COLD! screaming through my brain. It’s now nearly April and we’re still below thirty here. What’s it like for all you green people in California.

I am on a quest to find kitchen towels NOT made in China.  You see, I am changing my impulse purchasing habits into conscious purchasing habits– and it hurts just a little bit to see these icky towels knowing that new ones are a mile down the road at Target.  I am convinced that some company in the greater Los Angeles area manufactures kitchen towels– I just haven’t found them yet.  Organic cotton kitchen towels would be awesome, but I’ll settle for regular cotton in just about any color.

You ask, ”why the heck not go to Walmart or Target and buy some freakin’ kitchen towels for 2 bucks?”  That would be so easy, of course, but would push The Little Green Company That Could out of the textile market because I didn’t bother to look for them, that’s why! 

This is how greening your house starts: with the simple act of looking for a company or product that meets the criteria of an eco-friendly purchase.  I am doing it one pleather day-planner, kitchen towel set, and canvas bag at a time.  Let me know if you know of a company that manufactures kitchen towels in the USA!  My quest continues…

Some Rules for Life.

1. If you are going to complain about something, make sure it is something that you have nothing to do with. Most people, whilst complaining, are sitting on their ass doing absolutely nothing. Case in point-recently I overheard my employer stating that she felt sorry for her children having to grow up in this environmentally messed-up world. Yet this same person uses styrofoam, paper plates, drives a hulking SUV, buys over-processed foods, doesn’t eat fresh vegetables, doesn’t make an effort to conserve, reuse, or recycle. You get the point.

2. People that are constantly complaining about their weight. I mean, I understand what it’s like to be overweight. I’ve been there. But we all should know, as adults, what needs to be done to be healthy and in good shape. Get off your ass and stop eating junk food! I mean, if you decide to splurge on fattening food every day, or eat too many processed carbs, or eat too much altogether, you just aren’t going to be healthy. And if you refuse to exercise or exert yourself in any way, it’s just going to get worse. Only about 2-5 percent of Americans have serious problems that cause them to be obese, so the fact that our obesity rate is so high? well, that’s our fault. Stop bitching about it if you know what to do to be healthy but are too lazy to do it.

3. Traffic. Yeah, traffic is everywhere. I live in Texas right now, and it has the worst traffic I’ve ever seen. So do you know what I do? I ride the bus and my bike. Why in the hell would I want to deal with the craziness of stupid, rushed drivers who are all pissed off at eachother and themselves? I mean, if you hate traffic and it takes you forever to get to work anyways, why not cure the problem by riding a bus, riding your bike, or carpooling? Seriously, people…not that tough to figure out.

4. And last, but certainly not the least important, respect. I move throughout my day and am constantly seeing stressed out people blame their stressess on others. Doesn’t matter who it is; if it’s your kids, the barista at your coffeeshop, the guy in the car ahead of you or your spouse or significant other…if you don’t have the time to sit out of life for a second and process things so that you are not a fireball of anger everywhere you go, then make time to do that. People go through life completely unaware that the people that serve them and are closest to them are the ones that bear the brunt of their bad moods. So if you’re a jerk, do something to make up for it. Give a bigger tip, get flowers, spend time with your kids, and make it up to them. Because that goodness is passed from person to person, and so is that negativity. We can’t all just sit around and complain about a negative world and then go out into society and treat people like shit, then expect things to work out well.

It’s an easy lesson, and one you’ve been taught since you were small. Treat others the way you want to be treated.

Americans are like a bunch of battered women. I mean it. I am NOT dissing battered women – I’ve been in some bad relationships and I know that it’s f**ked up. I know that people in those relationships are held hostage as much by their own fears - their need for security - as they are by the person who is abusing them, who is usually taking advantage of those fears and needs.

We, as Americans, are afraid. We are afraid to live without our government, which we love to hate. We’re afraid to imagine what life would be like without all the institutions that do our thinking for us. We love to complain about government, insurance companies, medical industry, religion, special interest groups, schools, cops, this that and the other thing, and yet it’s almost like we’ve brought it on ourselves by being big pussies.

Think about it, back in the olden days - the pioneer days - which was not too long ago at all, people packed a few basic tools into a covered wagon, along with whatever food they could carry, their families, and a couple guns, and headed west into a land they knew nothing about. They didn’t know what they’d get attacked by, they didn’t know too much about the vegetation - what was edible and what was not - they didn’t know if they’d get jumped by a cowboy or Indian, bit by a snake, eaten by a bear…I mean they just jumped in and risked their lives on this dream of starting a new and better life. They had next to nothing, but they took the leap. The same leap taken by the people who came over in boats - ALL of them, from the Mayflower to the “boat people”.

How many Americans today would have that courage? Very few, I’m afraid. We are so afraid to lose what we have, which amounts to a few cushy conveniences. We are dependent on everything from technology to habit, to the government that we love to hate to the police that are there to protect us, to the rules that we’ve put into place, one by one, to try to make our lives more safe and comfortable. We can’t live without buttons and switches, and God forbid that we get our hands dirty on anything. Most of us don’t know our rights. Most of us are all too happy to hand our freedom over to anything or anyone who’ll give us an ounce of security, whether it be a bank loan, an insurance policy, an abusive partner, or a prison cell. We’re like a bunch of fat, lazy, fearful overgrown children who can hardly think for ourselves, beyond the buttons on our remote control. We can’t live without an electrical outlet, grocery store, food stamp coupon, car, tank of gas, credit card whatever. We’re pathetic. I mean it. Most of us don’t even know how to grow seeds in a garden anymore and that’s the easiest damn thing to do. You put a seed in the ground and water it. Voilà: food.

I think every American should study survival. Seriously. I think we should take away all the things we THINK we can’t live without, and see how far we get. Just for the hell of it. Figure out what we hate most - fear the most - and try to live without it. If nothing else, we might learn something.

There are a lot of structures that are falling apart right now, in this society and all over the world. I don’t think it’s a bad thing, even though it kind of sucks. I think it’s an opportunity to see what we’re really made of. We’re a lot stronger and more capable than we think. There are a lot of people struggling. What better opportunity for people to look around them, see who needs help, and help them. That’s what the damn pioneers did – they helped each other. They HAD to, to survive. We could grow stronger together. Imagine what this country would be like if people spent their time doing that, instead of whining about this law or that rule, this or that controlling  entity, or this or that person.

We’d be free. I’m pretty convinced of it. But I could be wrong. It’s just a thought.

Hello, fellow commuters.  I haven’t been on the freeway in the mornings for several years, but I took a job recently with a 15 mile commute.  Occasionally, my husband and I are able to carpool together.  This, we feel, is a good thing for our cars, the environment, and our marriage.  We get an additional half an hour to talk with one another! 

But here’s what I am seeing from my car window when I am behind you in my car:  Miss Smoker-Chick and Mr. Smoker-Dude flicking their cigarette ashes out the window to keep them out of their car.  I understand that ashes are a respiratory hazard and can leave nasty stains on your upholstery and work clothes, so keeping them outside the car is a better choice.  Right.  But the real PISSER is: what to do with the butt?  Are cigarette butts NOT litter?  Why are you flicking your butt out the car window? 

A long time ago, it became a law that we can’t throw our sh*t out the car window anymore.  Not aluminum cans, bags, or even tiny little gum wrappers.  In many places, it costs $1,000 and/or jail time to be caught red-handed throwing anything out the car window, or even allowing litter to fly free from your car accidentally. So, please tell me why we have not all internalized this law, this courtesy of the land, to mean ALL trash must remain inside your car until you can dispose of it in a trash can at a later time? I suggest that you keep a cup with a bit of water in it to extinguish the cigarette when you are done with it. 

Cigarette smokers: Smoke in your car if you wish, but stop dropping the filter butt on the ground when you’re finished.  Thank you!
