This is something that all most gave me a heart attack! there is currently a bill in the house it might have been defeated already but it was to limit the amount of news that would be available on the web or the amount of news a newspaper can place on the web I BELIEVE I could be dead wrong. Or it was something close to that.
First off the law itself is totaly uncontitional it violates the first amendment and it violates the free enterprise system. If you’re a bussiness it’s your choice weather you sell items at a store or you sell them online from a warehouse. NOT THE GOVERMENTS!
Now what’s even more surprising is the number of people that support the law, I’m not sure of the age demographic but they want it passed and basically progress stopped. They claim that we have to protect the newspaper! WHY! Back before TV every paper had at least two editions a day the morning paper and the evening paper and if there was something important going on you’d have the extra editions. Do we have that anymore no we don’t why because TV made multiple editions of the paper obsolete. there used to be sitcoms on the radio and they quickly died when TV came once again progress.
Now I like the paper myself and I’ll keep getting it until I know inevitably my paper goes totally online. It’s going to happen it doesn’t take a genius to figure out which way the wind is blowing on this. I mean especially in this recession why in the hell would anyone pay 50 cents a day for something they can read online for relatively free. It’s called progress people accept it. Everything in the universe has a beginning and an end. There are no exceptions to this rule and the print newspaper is reaching its end
PS Normally I do a little more reshearch on a subject before I flame off about it. If anyone has any more specifics about that said law please leave a comment. All I had to go on was a little thing in my Op-Ex section of the paper. I still do think that the law never even made it to a vote in the house

OK, OK, O-Freaking-KAY already.
I voted the other way. I watched the debates, I read about both candidates, and I said back when John “I have a PLAN” Kerry was conceding to G. W. Bush that if the Dems had a shot in ‘08, Obama would be the one to take them there. He took the democrats to the White House but he is thus far taking the country to the Poor House.
He said NUMEROUS times about how he was going to go through the Budget LINE by LINE with a scalpel and cut OUT the programs that did not work and replace them with ones that do. Ok, I’m all for it. Herein lies the Problem. He has spent more than anyone before him COMBINED and has called for cuts for what amounts to a few of hunderd thousand dollars. Lets look at two numbers because the media will show them like this 850 Billion dollars in spending and $350,000 in CUTS!!1
850.000.000.000 is NOT less than 350,000 so do not be fooled.
I’m sorry that this is a Wiki article on the Recession or UNKNOWN Depression of the early 1920’s that was eclipsed by the length and breadth of the GREAT Depression. It was the first one that I found but I’m certain that with minimal digging, something better might be found.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1921_recession
QUOTE
The recession of 1921-1923 proved to be the sharpest economic downturn since the emergence of the business cycle in the early 19th century, but it also was one of the shortest reversals. The recession was over in one year.
The Government did not throw money at this recession but instead cut the budget nearly in half. The recovery was not only quick, but it was substantial.
QUOTE
As usual, a buoyant expansion followed the severe contraction of 1920-1921. In the 22 months after the depression bottom, industrial production rose 63%, the money stock expanded by 14%, and wholesale prices rose by 9%. Net national product rose 23% in the corresponding two calendar years.
When you throw money at the problem, that money is taken (in the form of taxes) from those who would otherwise spend it in the Free Market and thus bolster the economy themselves rather than tightening the purse strings to the point where they are afraid to do anything but stuff it in a mattress for fear of the banks collapsing.
Japan had a very similar Housing bubble in 1990 except that their housing market dropped 80% of its value when it burst. They threw money at it, Bailed out the Corporations that contributed to the failures of the banking system (and made a partially National bank), only to ensure that they would have a sub par economy for 18 years.
Why do the people in our NEWLY elected Government keep touting that we should “Learn the lessons taught us by history.” and then try to repeat what HISTORICALLY has not worked for anyone else or our country by throwing YOUR money and mine at the problem to try to go back to an economy that was unsustainable to begin with and deteriorated into the mess we have now?
“Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results” ~ Albert Einstein
Sorry for my diatribe here but I feel you are all intelligent enough to start asking the questions about whether the Government interference costs more than allowing the problem to run its course, find bottom, and regenerate to a healthy state again naturally.
BTW, I am a graduate of Butler Area Senior High School and followed a General Studies curriculum so this isn’t rocket science.
I’ll get off my soap box now but I WILL be back and maybe we can talk about the EVIL Corporations and how the Free market has destroyed the United States.!!

Swine Flu is hre and you MUST be on guard! Do not pay attention to the little things like a multi-trillion dollar spending package, because…. aaahhh arrggg.. SWINE FLU!!!!!!!!!
Do not look at the fact that President Obama said that without the bail-out package, unemployment will hit 8%… Now with the bailout package the unemployment rate is 8.7% …..not important … SWINE FLU!!
Forget the part about saving the Car Manufacturers from Bankruptcy, Now that they ARE going bankrupt after billions of dollars have ben spent on them, think about the SWINE FLU!
Stop worrying about President Obama telling your bank how much money it should raise in fees. And stop thinking about the taxes that have already been raised on the poorest of the population. And stop thinking about the the way Mr. Obama has greeted the enemies or the USA with a smile and a stupid acceptanceof an inane and insulting gift….. no … do not think about this, think about SWINE FLU!

Miss California (Carrie Prejean) has been accused of posing for semi-nude photographs when she was 17 years old. She may be stripped of her title if the accusations are proven to be true. Many people believe the charges are just a pretense to get revenge against Miss California for making anti-gay marriage remarks during the Miss America pageant where she won the first runner-up position. After the Miss America pageant, Prejean said the reason she believed she did not win the pageant was because she publicly stated her politically incorrect, Christian belief which is - Marriage is between a man and a woman (after officially being asked a question on the subject during the pageant by a gay judge).
Whether Prejean loses her Miss California title may depend on the definition of “semi-nude”. The photographs in question are taken from Prejean’s side, only reveal the side of Prejeans exposed breast and do not depict any nipple area which is covered by her strategically placed hand. Prejean displays a pair of pink panties in the photographs and she may argue that the photographs are tasteful boudoir photos which innocently depict beauty rather than pornography.
All of the Miss America contestants paraded around in skimpy bikinis this year during the swimsuit competition segment. Their white bikinis could easily have been percieved to be white longerie had they been worn in bedroom scenes instead of on stage at the beauty pageant.
Some bikini designs (skimpier than the design used by the Miss America pageant) cover the nipple area but do not cover the sides of breasts. (See example in photo below; model is not Prejean). If Miss California is found guilty of posing for “semi-nude” photographs (in violation of the Miss California rules), then it seems to me that any model who poses in a teeny weeny bikini runs the risk of violating beauty contest rules and would not be elligible to compete in a Miss California beauty pageant.

Of course, pageant officials may define semi-nude photos to include all topless photos even when hands cover exposed breasts. (See example in photo below; model is not Prejean.) If a hand is covering the nipple area, how would anyone know if there was a pastie covering the nipple area or not? Are breasts covered with pasties semi-nude? What percentage of a breast has to be covered with some kind of material so as not to be in violation of beauty pageant rules? Teenagers who dream of being crowned beauty queens some day need to know the answers to these questions.
How would you define semi-nude? Do you think Miss California should be stripped of her crown?

You know I know that most people walk around life with a half confused look on their faces barely aware their alive. perfectly content to just go with the flow and stay with the status quo. Still why isn’t the American people outraged at our President! I mean what’s it going to take huh? For him to totally bankrupt the country or give Iran the plans for the stealth bomber to Iran. Would that finally wake some of you up.
Some of you are awake and that’s great the other 90% of you is what I’m concerned about. When we elected Obama to office he came in with the attitude of we need a new way of doing business and we need change. Well in less than a hundred days he’s spent more than all the other presidents put TOGETHER! and is repeatedly using the tried and true democrat spend, spend, spend method. Have we as an American people bothered to say ”Uh Mr. President where’s all this moeny going? Do you really need this much?” Or most importantly ”How in the hell are we going to pay all of this back?” Have we said that HELL NO! We’re to busy trying to guess who the next American Idol is.
Then there’s the foreign diplomats. I’m not talking about him bowing to the Saudi king. That was a show of respect in the man’s country and considering Obama wants to tramp trough his backyard looking for the Taliban then we should show the ruler of the country a little respect. That’s just how I feel. Shaking hands with bloodthirsty dictators on the other hand is not that good of a sign. Most of you didn’t bother to express concern with this though why because it didn’t make the six o’clock news. It only appeared in the paper.
Then there’s the job market that no one can find a new one or they’re scared of losing the one they have. All the while the owner or BOD keeps getting to slash salaries and benefits and the employees just take it because “Be happy you at least have a job” has become an acceptable norm! Why hasn’t anyone gotten mad over this broken promise. Didn’t Obama say he’d create jobs and improve the ones that are out there. Well he’s spent 2 trillion and jobless claims keep going UP! 2 trillion dollars and I haven’t seen job one come around as a result! Yet still most of us just keep going along thinking that things will work out
I have news for all you people happily living your life in a semi-coma IT’S NOT GOING TO WORK OUT! Not until the majority of American citizens turn off the TV or wake up and calmly ask the president “Uh Mr. President excuse me sir but just what in the hell are you doing with all this money!”

Well is it any wonder that Americans are in the situation we’re in! I’m not at all surprised that every thing’s going down hill. Why because for the most part the average American just does whatever the media tells them to! If the news at six says be afraid of this and then the paper the next day backs it up well then guess what 200 million Americans are now terrified of something that only yesterday posed no threat.
Now let me stop for a moment and say that I love this country and I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else and I wouldn’t want to live at any other time either. This is where and when I want to be. That said there is serious problems with the critical thinking in this country I see it all over. Like take the peanut and pistachio scare that happened. Only one or two plants were contaminated with salmonella. The next morning after the almighty box told us to be afraid every American went out and burned every peanut every where. None of them bothered to check that it was less than 10% of the total supply. The same thing happened with the pistachios only this time the terror inspiration that you read with your OJ got that tid bit first. Once again less than 10% of the total supply but again everyone believed the paper’s gospel and you couldn’t get a pistachio for a month.
Now I’m not attacking the nightly news and I watch it myself and I read the paper everyday. They’re great ways to get info. HOWEVER! they report the facts as they have them or what they can deduce at the time. When you read the paper or watch the news listen for the key phrases We’ll stay with this or more details will follow. I believe the peanut thing ended with We’ll have more as the FDA releases it but only a very small portion is affected. Did anyone hear that or read that and go online for a few more facts that were available. Hell no they didn’t because that would require a little bit of thought on their part. No one questioned what the media told them or even to see if something else had been released about it. They panicked until about six the next night.
That I think is the biggest problem NO one questions what they read or see anymore. If it’s reported by the AP or our local 5 news or if it’s told by a teacher, parent or hell a celebrity it must instantly be true! This isn’t really a surprising result because that’s the way that parents and SCHOOLS! teach children from the earliest stages. If you’re told that everything is fine then everything must be fine. No one’s ever taught to question anything. Then there are teacher (I’ve had them) that would get pissed with a student if they dared challenge their omnipotent knowledge. I thought that teachers were supposed to challenge students.
Another big problem is people don’t read enough any more and it’s not really any one’s fault again. Because in school reading isn’t taught as a joy it’s taught as a chore and the materiel is the pre-determined master works. I’m sorry Dickens may be considered a master by some but The Tale of Two Cites and The Pipwick Papers SUCKED! It’s the same with any thing wrote by Amy Tan. So for most people reading unfortunately develops into this hated chore that after collage they never do again. So one one bothers to read ALL the evidence and instead goes with a thirty second sound bite.
In the end America wake up learn all the facts on something before you hit the panic button. One last thing generally I’ve found that most of the time when the people on TV tell you that it’s going OK that’s about the time that everything goes to hell.

this is the end I just can’t do this anymore. I’ve just finally run out of bullshit. I’m tired of it aren’t you tired of it. I’m tired of one side on an issue always ignoring facts that don’t help their cause. I’m sick and tired of environmentalists thinking that corporations and big business are destroying the precious fabric of earth. Big Business is some of the largest recyclers out there but I’m also sick of the bullshit reason people believe them! The companies don’t do it out of some morale imperative to save the earth, they do it to make MONEY! Why in the hell would you throw something away when there’s another company that will buy it!
I’m tired of the stupid bullshit things that people flip out about. We’ve got a recession on, no one can find a job, Health insurance is non existent or at best a broken pile of shit of course that doesnt matter because no one has money for even a Minute Clinic visit. People are losing their homes the crime rate is going up Our freedoms are being taken away to thunderous applause and are we outraged by it HELL NO! Why because gasp! Lindsy Lohan broke up with her girlfriend and Mel Gibson is divorcing his wife! And gays want to get married oh dread! How can anyone say that Madonna not being able to adopt kid number 23 is a bigger deal to the world then the war going on!
I’m also tired of the bullshit that surrounds the school systems and the kids that infest it! The school is a public place that I keep shoveling more and more money into to help educate the kids! Guess what thanks to all of the bullshit the kids keep getting DUMBER! It’s not really the kids fault because they’re never challenged. Why because when you challenge someone’s abilities you run the risk of them failing. We can’t have that in schools now can we! We all know how soul crushing it is not to do something perfectly the first time. Then who really gets it the worst are the smart kids. We can’t separate them because that’s exclusionary and would make the majority of kids feel dumber and left out. We can’t get the class harder because that would make most of the other kids actually think for a minute! Do you lovers of bullshit really think that a person’s emotional center can be forever destroyed because of elementary school! Your assigning the kids way more self awareness then they’re capable of!
I’m sick and tired of the bullshit surrounding the fact that we can’t say anything or have any sort of zest for life because it might be offensive to one in ten-thousand people! You know what if you people would come out of the bubble of bullshit that you’ve built for yourself for just a few seconds you’d see that they’re just words they can’t hurt you. They only hurt you if you let them, alone words are meaningless. No word has the power to kill or to wreck some one’s life, day or even the fifteen minutes after he heard it. All the bullshit surrounding all the so-called hateful words is just that bullshit! Once you stop giving a shit what people say then everyone will see just how fast the so called hateful or offensive words lose any power. You don’t even need words to offended people and wreck your life. A photo of you on MySpace or Facebook have a drink with friends at a bar can keep you from a job, which is just stupid. Why in the hell dose someone going for let’s say a administrative assistant job need to worry about what they do in their off time. The bullshit lovers trying to take away any sort of fun that people want to have.
I’m also sick of the bullshit about how no one can take personnel responsibility for their actions. I’m talking about all the people that spouted the popular “predatory lending” there’s no such thing. It’s just another bunch a bullshit and I’ll prove it. No one held a gun to these people’s heads and made them sign the ARM loan now did they. They had all the time in the world to sign the loan or to have a lawyer look it over. Then to make matters worse instead of cutting back on expenses what did they do instead they went and just busted out their platinum VISA didn’t they. Now before they knew it they’re in over their head and bankruptcy and ruin are just around the corner. At any time we’re these people forced to buy all the shit they didn’t really need. Did they have to get a car every three years No they didn’t
The exception to that is the poor bastard that get laid off because the failing banks remove their line of credit and that spells the end for most companies. So he’s saved for a rainy day but with no jobs that dries up quick and then everything in his life begins to go down hill. To him I say first call your mortgage company and explain the situation. Trust me more and more companies are letting payments go for longer and longer. Then after that I’ll buy the drinks.
One last pile of Bullshit that I just can’t deal with anymore is the fact that why can’t men be proud to be men anymore. WHY! Oh we can be men alright just the watered down subtle weak version the feminists want. I mean I’ll give you an example if a woman goes out and sets up a club for women or a gym for women or a event celebrating womanhood every one’s just fine with it. However if I set up an event for men or centered around men there would be such a public outcry from NOW and NAW that it would probably end with me getting lynched.
That’s not even going into if i dared set up a club for guys to hang out and shoot the shit. The only requirement for membership is that you are a man that’s it. Race age creed religious belief or even gay or straight wouldn’t matter. It would be shut down in two weeks by the court for discrimination yet women can do that now can’t they especially lesbian bars. Please explain the equality and fairness in that.
That’s all the bullshit I can talk about now get back to this in a part 2 or I’ll go into it on my Warcorpse666 YouTube Channel.

Ok; that is THE LIMIT. A tree growing in a man’s lung?!!! NoWAY! I’m like, sitting here (for 15 minutes now) trying to digest this. (Ugh – and the picture).
Anyways, I’m referring to the news brief (above on the news feed) about the Russian guy who had a tree growing in his lung. Now, first off; a question. Was *said* tree rooted. (typed amidst howling cackles.).
Did anyone actually see a root in that lung? I NEED TO KNOW THIS. :-DDDDD (I really really do). I saw the bit of pine needle twig looking thingy, but I couldn’t make out a root per se. (By the way, did you see the fly on that shot? It was trying to fly through the screen and get at the tree! (or maybe the lung). Or was it actually in the computer image? Ew.
Anyways, all I have to say is somewhere in this world (I guess Russia) there is a tree on a mission. A mission to tell the world that if we don’t stop f**king up the rainforest, someone’s lungs are going to have hell to pay. What better way to deliver that message than directly to the lung? (I’m sorry; I’m laughing again). Life is too weird.
On the note of trees; here’s a little tidbit. A few years ago I took a course on how to build a house out of mud and during the course (which was offered in the Coquille rain forest of Oregon (link to these cool people: http://www.innerexplorations.com/simpletext/acob.htm ) we took a hike up into a forest that had been leveled by loggers. Out of this entire hillside of cedars, the loggers had left one HUGE old cedar. All of us (15+) people did the old hold-hands-and-see-how-big-the-tree-is-dealio and we could barely fit all the way around. It was a massive tree. But even though the loggers had left it be, to live out it grand life in peace (alone, without all it’s friends and family and children and children’s children), it had died anyways.
Now what Lanto (the guy leading the course) said was that cedars have a very finely tuned underground network and they need each other to survive (I don’t know if it’s a root connection need dealie, or an emotional trees-have-feelings-too kind of dealie, but as soon as the hill was clear cut, the massive old cedar, which had been left unscathed, died. Pretty sad, but also pretty revealing just how important those little life connections are to all of our survival.
And although you can recycle paper, you can’t get an old growth back…at least not in this lifetime…or the next…or the next… And those trees are pretty d*mn incredible. A shame to see them all go.

I had to start thinking about my relationship with the newspaper lately. I love to read during breakfast, but I don’t like the way it leaves pieces of itself around the kitchen table. Also, most of my favorite writers from the paper are writing online or laid off. I’m just not getting from the paper what I used to get: 4 pages of Business instead of 10. It’s always telling me something negative. It can’t seem to look on the bright side! My paper was draining my energy and I just had to let it go. We’re breaking up.
My husband started the trend by not doing the crossword puzzle in favor of reading a fiction book he had started reading. So I looked at the paper and looked at the stack of Buddhadharmas on my desk that I haven’t read yet. They called to me from across the room, “Kristen! You think you have no time to catch up on subscriptions, but there you are reading the daily paper. Now, can’t you read that on CNN or MSNBC? Don’t you listen to Pacifica Radio?”
I had to admit that I could try to put aside my newspaper relationship in favor of reading a magazine I was gifted from a family member. And the days I don’t feel like reading, I take out my journal and write a little. I feel like I am nurturing a relationship with my writer-self that has needed to come out and play! I miss the paper sometimes, but I don’t miss the ink on the kitchen table nor the recycling basket overflow in our kitchen. Most of all, I’m developing a relationship with my journal and my inner spirit self, and that’s way more important than a relationship of habit: what me and my newspaper had become.
April 04th, 2009
Not only do you trust your sources but can you? I get my news from a number of sources, my local newspaper, news channels, on-line news sites and out-of-state newspapers plus international sources. I trust none of them. Why? because they slant the news to fit their agenda. I won’t come right out and say they lie but they have a way of leaving out key parts until it reads different and is meaningless to me.
During the presidential election process, my local paper (the Rocky Mountain News has since ceased publication) slanted their news to favor Obama and I found that insulting to my intelligence. The Rocky lent a lot of space to discrediting McCain while puffing up Obama, he was the media darling. My other local paper, the Denver Post, is doing the same thing but to a lesser extent.
I don’t listen to Rush Limbaugh, he’s just a talking head for the Republican Party. I used to watch Glenn Beck until he became too hostile with his opinions, almost unAmerican. Bill O’Reilly, Michelle Malkin, Ann Coulter and Anderson Cooper all talk for ratings, not to tell the news. Even our own government can’t be trusted to tell us the truth. Remember the Defense Department admitting they engaged in a propaganda campaign in order to put the war in a better light? They actually paid writers to spin their stories into fluff and downplay the harsh truth. There is nothing good about a war, it’s about killing and dying on both sides.
How can we get our reliable news? It takes some digging and adhereing to the age, old truth, “Believe half what you hear and a quarter of what you read”. You have to remember that news writers work for a news agency, whether it be a newspaper, news magazine or news wire. They have a set of policies they have to adhere to or risk losing their jobs. Perhaps the best news reporting came during the Vietnam War, the news came from reporters actually out in the field, seeing with their own eyes what was going on, the horrors of a napalm attack, the incredible savagry of the enemy, all written in vivid words and pictures. I know, I was there.
I’m not saying that all reporters won’t tell the truth but most just don’t put in all the facts and putting their own spin on the news. I prefer to do that myself. All I ask is give me all the news, all the facts and let me make up my own mind.
What are your thoughts on this?
