The schools used to be a place where you learned and got ready for the real world. Now what are they just another place for over protective parents keep their children in the bubble as long as possible. Even up to and including collage. Take these few examples.

Punctuality - In some of my younger relatives and friends kids that are still in private and public schools get into trouble if they’re late right. Just like a job right. Well you’d be dead ass wrong because the schools don’t want students in trouble give them anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes! of leanancy before the student is ruled late. Do you know of a job that lets you walk in 15 minutes late every day and keep your job. I can’t think of one

Books - No I’m not talking about books like math or history, I’m talking about books like Night by Elie Wiesel. Anyone who’s read the book knows that it’s a graphic description of life in Nazi concentration camps. Now anyone with a bit of rational sense would say that everyone needs to read this book. Then again parents often have no rational sense. This book that should be read by every h been banned in almost every fucking school in the country. WHY! Because parents ran to the school board saying that the book disturbed and bothered their child. you’d think that the school board would scream in these morons face’s. “It’s supposed to fucking disturb them! If they’re human it should have bothered them! Why do we want them bothered by this SO IT DOSEN’T HAPPEN AGAIN!!!!” Do they say that? Hell no! Almost every single one of them said “Don’t worry even though it almost flies in the face of logic no child will have to read this book. Even though it’s one of the most important books ever wrote we don’t want children to be bothered by something they read” Now can anyone tell me how many things are wrong with that logic.

You see them everywhere people with signs and bible verse with sayings like Marriage IS one man and one woman, FAMILY IS A MOM AND A DAD and my personal favorite Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve plus all  the other ones these people come up with. Their mission is to stop two people from living their lives together and break up loving families because it’s an abomination of THEIR belief system. Their weapons are arguments like marriage is a sacred ancient institution between ONE man and ONE woman and it’s thousands of years old. That with out traditional families America will fall to ruin and the whole world will come crashing down around our ears. Well I’m hear to tell you the idea of marriage, monogamous marriage, one man one woman is a MAN MADE CROCK OF SHIT!!!

First off lets just deal with the idea of a single partner for the rest of your life. Some of these people would have you believe that one on one marriage is as old as the bible. That it’s a sacred institution formed by God himself. WRONG! Does anyone recall that passage in the bible where God had Adam and Eve stand side by side and say By the power given to me by me I now pronounce you man and wife I really don’t. Would everyone like the idea of monogamous relationships got introduced into Christianity. Let’s take a trip back to the time of Charlemagne. This guy was the shit he did more than anyone else to pull Europe out of the dark ages and get it back on track of science and learning. He was also a Christian and had 4 wives 27 concubines 46 mistresses and a large variety of dairy girls working the land outside of his castle. I mean this guy would put Wilt Chamberland to SHAME! Why could he get away with this that’s because there was NOTHING IN THE BIBLE that you could only have a relationship with one other person. That concept was introduced by Pope Leo a few years after Charlemagne’s death. He said that all coupling will be between one man and one woman. They will be married for life and have no others and that before they couple they will have to be joined in the eyes of the lord and of course this can only be accomplished by paying a fee to your local clergy.

Leviticus Oh yes chapter 22 of Leviticus well I don’t want to debate the bible all that much in this post all I’ll say is this. Did anyone bother to read the rest of Leviticus because you better throw out all of your dress shirts because it tells us in that chapter that you can’t wear cloth of two different threads. Also if you enjoy sweet corn in the summer than you’re going to hell because two different seeds sown together is right up there with man lying with man.

Without both a mother and a father children will grow up wrong and morally bankrupt leading them to a life of crime and sin. Well now isn’t this just silly and once again I can prove it. How many times do you hear, read or see a news story about some parent who did something horrible to their child and predominately guess what their a family with a dad and a mom. And how many times have you heard of a gay and lesbian couple doing that. I can recall ONE instance involving two lesbians beating the shit out of their kid. Now what’s the reason for this statistic well gay and lesbian parents are generally older and have really thought it out with their partner when they either adopt or have kids because there’s really no chance of them having a unwanted or unexpected pregnancy. Plus the rates of the kids raised by same sex parents going gay or lesbo is the exact same as kids raised by straight parents.

Gay marriage will cause divorce REALLY! I don’t know where they got this but divorce is not a new concept. Plus I don’t know what statistics you’re reading but the gay and lesbian community are actually not that large when compared with the rest of the US. I would actually be shocked if they made up more than 1 or 2 percent of the population

I think I’m going to stop here, there might be a part two I don’t really know. I just find it hypocritical that people use a religion that’s basic command is to love and have compassion forEVERYONE. To use that as a platform to deny people the same rights that you enjoy under the law is simply staggering. I mean didn’t Jesus spend his time healing the sick and helping the desperate. Didn’t he also embrace the prostitute Didn’t he embrace everyone no matter what! Here’s a thought READ THE DAMN BOOK BEFORE YOU USE THAT AS AN ARGUMENT! 

 A little about me is that I was raised with a mom and a dad, they were married a few years before I was born. I have a good relationship with both of them and they’re still together. I am not gay myself honestly I can’t even tell you what attracts women to men. Let alone a man to another man. I CAN tell you why a chick would want to screw another chick. Yet even though I’m straight and both my parents were together for all of my life I can still sit here and say to everyone who says marriage or family is One MAN one WOMAN is shoveling a great big CROCK OF SHIT!!!!

Wish I could invite my dad over to my house for Father’s Day and celebrate. I sure would like to Bar-B-Q him some steak or salmon. Whatever he might want. Unfortunately, it’s impossible for us to get together.

He was my first hero. I’ll never forget the day he took me and my sister to the beach and someone started drowning. In a flash, my dad ran and dove into the ocean. He quickly pulled this guy out and saved his life. A crowd of people had gathered. Everyone was so glad the guy lived. I wonder if this experience had anything to with me becoming a lifeguard later in life.

During summers, my dad took us kids camping at fantastic places like Yellowstone and Sequoia National Park. I wonder if this had anything to do with me eventually getting a job with the U.S. Forest Service or living next to a national forest today.

As an LAPD officer, Dad patrolled South Central L.A. for 20 years. He had a tough, dangerous job dealing with street gangs but Dad was very macho. He totally bought into that whole Marlboro man image the tobacco companies sell so well. Seemed like he always had a cigarette going. I first started smoking when I was 16. I wonder if my dad’s smoking had anything to do with it.

When my dad got emphysema, I realized smoking had serious, unpleasant consequences. One day, when I was working in my photo studio in Hollywood, I set up a modeling mirror and took a good look at myself with a cigarette dangling from my lips (in that classic James Dean style). With my father’s emphysema situation on my mind, I didn’t look very “cool” to myself anymore. Actually, I thought I looked butt faced stupid - Like my face was really grotesque and there was a cigarette being smoked in my butt crack. How disgusting!

It was time to quit. I found out quitting was easier said than done. In fact, quitting smoking was the hardest thing I’ve ever struggled with. I really liked smoking. I liked having a cup of coffee and a smoke, a beer and a smoke, a smoke after a great meal, a smoke after great sex, driving and smoking. Heck - anything and smoking. But it was just too unhealthy and I especially didn’t like looking stupid to people who didn’t smoke. Many times when I was trying to quit, I would smoke the last cigarette of a pack and tell myself, “I’m not buying another pack.” Then at 2:30 a.m., I would find myself lying in bed desperate for a cigarette. Unable to sleep, I would climb out of bed and rummage through my trash cans until I found a butt to light. What an ordeal. Eventually, I did quit, but it was the hardest damn thing I’ve ever done. Today, I have much sympathy for anyone who is addicted to nicotine and all of the mysterious, toxic chemicals the greedy tobacco companies add to natural tobacco to make cigarettes extra addictive and maximize sales.

I was still working in Hollywood when my friend Debbie was trying to get gigs as a stand-up comedian. I offered to help her brainstorm for her comedy routines and she promised to do some modeling for me. We had fun kicking around some comedy stuff over a few gin and tonics. Then I told her about the humorous photo concepts I wanted her to consider working on as a model. For one idea, I described how I thought people’s faces look like dumb-ass butts when they put a cigarette in their little, face hole. Perhaps this could be a humorous “No Smoking” poster or greeting card. LOL - Debbie said she didn’t want to do any ass modeling, especially because her butt had too much cellulite. I reassured her that her butt would be fine because I wanted my image to be the opposite of the sexy tobacco company ads. When Debbie realized she would be able to recount this unusual modeling experience for a funny stand up bit, she became much more enthusiastic. Debbie even called her best friend who immediately volunteered to come down to my studio and assist with cigarette placement during the photo shoot.

To all you smokers out there, If you can’t quit, I hope you at least cut down and minimize the damage. I know how hard it is because I’ve been there. I’m not trying to put anybody down who chooses to smoke. I’m just saying, for your sake and the sake of your family, I hope you don’t end up like my dead father… weak, sick, hooked up to an oxygen tank suffering a slow, unpleasant, untimely death.

So there I am at the convenience store the other day. It’s early evening, so the place is crowded. People hitting the ATM, getting some sandwiches, etc. So the front parking lot is packed. In fact, it’s full, there are no free spots. In such instances, most rational people would merely drive the extra 60 feet to the parking lot on the side. That’s what we did because I am of said rational mind. My wife went in to use the ATM, and I was waiting in the car. It was here I saw something that really fucking pisses me off.

Car comes in from the street. It pauses as there are no open spots in the front parking lot. Well, not exactly, there is one open spot-the handicap spot. Surely this car won’t park …son of a bitch! The black Pontiac cruises right into the spot. I can see there are no handicap plates, nor is there a tag hanging from the rear view mirror. What happens next makes me sick. The driver’s side door opens as a woman gets out. Right after that, from the back seat, emerge 2 kids.

What kind of fucking example is she setting for those 2 kids? “Hey, kids, if you see a cheap way to get by, take it! That’s what I do!” From her demeanor getting out of the car, she was clearly not ashamed to be parking in the handicap spot. She disappears into the store. It’s merely conjecture on my part, but I think she’s going in there to buy smokes for her kids, but I could be wrong.

I think assholes who do this shit be immediately handicapped themselves. In fact, I just petitioned by township to install me to the newly created title of town handicapper. They informed me they already have an official handicapper, his name is Sal and he hangs out at the Town Tavern most nights. I told them, no, I wanted to be a different kind of handicapper. I would station myself at random public parking lots; malls, shopping centers, grocery stores, churches, etc. And whenever I see someone without the proper tags park in a handicap spot, I just wait for them. With a baseball bat. As they walk out, I would politely step on their foot and swing for the fences at their knee. You’re handicapped now, sucker. Lesson learned.

For some reason, the township didn’t go for it, but my point still stands. I absolutely hate seeing people trying to get an unfair advantage. Is it really all that important to park 10 feet closer to the door just to pick up a paper and some joe? How low class to take it just out of sheer laziness. I can’t imagine if someone who really needs the spot can’t get into it. What kind of example is she setting for her kids? She is probably the same kind of person who walks her dog, but never picks up the poop. The same kind of person that doesn’t put things back right in the gym. The same kind of person that has 25 items in the express lane. The same kind of person that makes my blood absolutely boil.

The world is too full of these people.

This last weekend I spent some time with family. We didn’t fire up the grill or gather at the lake. I was at the cemetery. That might seem dreary or sad, but it really wasn’t.

Armed with lilacs, a trowel, a brush, and a big-ass shovel we set off in search of the relatives. Last year we lost my dad’s side of the family because the tree we used as a landmark by their graves had been removed. But this year we found them easily enough on a hill in the sunshine. My mom’s side of the family is easier to find, at least until the building we use as a landmark comes down.

Cleaning off the graves didn’t seem like a difficult task. I would just use my big-ass shovel and clean up the edges where grass had overgrown the flat headstone. But the dirt was dry and hard and it was funny how quickly it got hot on my sunny hillside. So there I sat, hacking at dirt and grass on my hands and knees because the shovel didn’t work nearly as well as I thought it would. And when you are there, on your hands and knees staring at a headstone it is hard not to contemplate one’s mortality.

When would I die? How long would it be? Would it be a surprise? Painful? Would the last thing I see be someone thumping on my chest and performing rescue breathing? Or, how long would it be before I was cleaning off my parents’ graves, or would they be cleaning mine?

And yet, for all that fatalistic mortality, I wasn’t really sad because I was also thinking of the people whose mortal remains were resting—what they meant to me. I hacked and cut at the stubborn grass, ants swarming over the warm, naked stone and I thought about how many pieces of these people were still alive in memories and stories.

My Grandma Lamon was always scared that people didn’t like her cooking if they didn’t have second and third helpings. My Grandpa Lamon would compare health ailments to different foods, forever tainting brown gravy and Caro syrup by association. My Uncle Larry stayed with me the night my sister was born and was the sole witness to the absolute worst tantrum of my entire childhood, and still liked me. My Grandma Sibinski let me and my sister watch horse races on television after church. My Grandpa Sibinski would call my mom Kid. My Uncle Jerry would study people all year so he could buy them something they would really love for Christmas. I brushed the dirt and debris off the granite headstone, exposing the names and the dates.

The ground was so hard and dry I had to pound a hole into it with the trowel to get the flower holder in the ground. We filled it with soft purple lilacs from our yard and poured water in to the rim. Those flowers won’t last long and the grass will grow over the edge of the headstones again and the ants will recolonize, but for now my flowers are blooming and the headstones are clean. Sometimes you just have to enjoy that one moment.

You know I swear to God I don’t know what in the hell is wrong with a majority of people these days. I’ll give you two examples.

I’m not sure if anyone outside MN knows but there’s a 13 year old boy that has Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. With treatment he has a 95% chance of survival. So after being diagnosed and getting a treatment plan set up he goes for his first round of treatment. Like most people how have Chemo he got sick. After seeing their son in such a state the parents and the kid decided on no more Chemo instead opting for a natural holistic approach. Just so you know without Chemo the kid’s survival chances drop to around 5%.

So the kids docs try to force him into to treatment with a court order. He and his family respond by saying that it’s against his religious belief system to have Chemo. I believe he said “I want to meet my creator with a clean body and having Chemo would make me unclean” And the natural methods involved little more than willow bark and ginger tea from what I gathered in the paper. So after a court fight the judge ordered the kid into treatment. He ordered a X Ray be taken to see if the natural remedies had any effect and a new Chemo plan be drawn up. He also stipulated that the Chemo would be in conjunction with a natural regiment as well. He ended the hearing by saying to the boy “You may not think you’re that sick and you don’t look sick but trust me you are very very sick”

The doctors were comprised of six oncologist 3 pediatricians and even acupuncturists and herbalists that all said the same thing “The kid needs treatment natural remedies are not going to do it”.  The Parents and the kid had almost nothing concrete to offer except for religious beliefs. Oh and a public outcry of support which left my mouth hanging open. Thousands of people with signs that said “Say no to Drugs” and “Natural remedies work” touting personnel freedoms and patient rights and parental rights in deciding what’s best for their kids. Did any of these people bother to look at the medical evidence.

Now if the kid was an adult I’d have no problem with him refusing treatment. It’d be his personnel right to refuse Chemo against all logic. But he’s not an adult and his parents are basing their decision on fear and a desire not to see their son suffering. Well sometimes you have to go through hell to get better. Well anyway the X Ray was taken and guess what the cancer’s grown back to it’s original size and is still expanding. What amazes me is even with all this there are still people that are pissed about the judge decision to save the kids life.

They constantly write into the paper or call in on talk shows. Saying that the judge is evil and wrong and should not have interfered with “A very private decision” Or they still say that nature has all the cures he needs. Well nature had it’s shot and it failed it’s time for man made western medicine to take over. There is nothing wrong with taking herbs or vitamins for simple things. Like if you have stomach problems feel free to take a herbal tea. If you have a cold take some vitamin C, If you can’t sleep chew on some Valerian root or have a beer. But if you have something like lets say Bronchitis take the penicillin.

So she’s decided to get pregnant and be a mom at 66. So what? How many people do I know (children) who’s fuck up parents can’t handle the responsibility so they (children) get raised by their grandparents? A lot. It happens all the time. Youth is not indicative of ability to parent children. She sounds like she’s together, rich, capable, and willing and able to take on the responsibilities. Therefore: So what?

Personally, I’d shoot myself if I found out I was pregnant. It’s a lot of work, takes a lot of energy and is HARD to be a good parent. At my age (40’s) I sometimes feel overwhelmed, burnt out and exhausted, and sometimes wonder if I have the energy to make it through. If I was in my sixties and trying to take on life’s problems, I’d keel. But if she thinks she can handle a teenager at 80, more power to her.

If you don’t know President Obama visited Notre Dame recently to get a honorary degree. While most people were happy to see the new president there was a large group of people that really weren’t mostly because of Obama’sviews on abortion. Now at least all the footage I seen was a bunch of men protesting for pro-life. And my my thought is where is their place in the abortion vs anti-abortion argument.

To the guys of America If you pee standing up you have no place in the argument. Why it’s not our fight! Now I’ll prove it

Men are needed for conception that’s really it! Men DO NOT carry the baby for 9 months Men DO NOT go through labor or the risks involved in giving birth. Men Don’t nurse, get stretch marks, go through all the changes that the body goes through. Men don’t have to adjust diet quit smoking or drinking. I’m sorry but that’s the way it is.

Now if you’re a man and you get a woman pregnant there is NOTHING you can legally do to force her to give birth to that baby on the other hand there is nothing that you can do to force her to abort the baby. So the decision is entirely up to the woman anyway. Plus if Guys really don’t want to be a dad they can just LEAVE! Sorry if I opened an old wound for anyone but that’s the way it is.

So this pretty much proves that while men can have an opinion on abortion me personally I’m for it. If you don’t have a brain you’re not alive. I can dig up a corpse that’s been one year dead and get it’s heart beating again does that mean it’s alive HELL NO! However in the argument weather or not abortion should be legal or illegal or under what circumstances should it be given is really not for men to decided. We just don’t have enough footing in the world of pregnancy to form a argument.

The people that think Walgreen’s is a place to do major shopping. It’s not it’s a fucking conviance store/PHARMACY! It’s a place where sick people go to get prescriptions filled and maybe get some Gatorade. Why is that every time I’m sick I’m always stuck behind some bubble assesd woman who decided to buy 24 margarita glasses. And the cashier is some 90 year old lady that’s taking five minutes to wrap each one even though the fucking things are plastic. Then usually if I’m lucky the customer will pay with a card if not they’ll ask if they can pay with a check even though there at least two signs saying we don’t accept checks! People get your major shopping done at a major store, or at least a store that’s for dishes or whatever. Walgreen’s is a store to run in and grab a few items you forgot but mostly it’s where sick pissed off people go to get mounds of drugs to get them better.

People that pay with a check - Oh my god! do these people piss me off to no end! Do these people not know that checks take for fucking ever to write! For me personally they always screw the hell out of my balance sheet because I’ve waited damn near a month before the check cleared and was taken out of my account. Now paying bills with them is one thing. Personally I don’t know why anyone doesnt do bill pay but if you don’t have a computer. But going to a store and using them irks me to no end! Folks you have this thing called a CHECK CARD!!!!!!!! IT’S A LOT FASTER!!!!!!!!!! Then some of these morons will reply “Well I’m old fashioned and I like my checks” (These old-fashioned people can be like 22 at times)  I scream back “IT’S CALLED PROGRESS! WE USED TO GET AROUND WITH THE HOARSE AND CART BUT WE DON’T DO THAT ANYMORE!”

People that blame McDonald for their massive weight gain. We all know people like this hell might even have a friend like this. They’re overweight and know it’s getting harder for them to do things or the health problems are starting to come around. Do they take personnel responsibility for it and go to the gym or take a walk or hell just eat a fucking salad NO! They end up saying it’s not my fault I can’t fit into a elevator anymore or that I can’t fit into a airplane seat It’s McDonalds, Burger Kings or Wendy’s fault. they usually say this while stuffing a Big Mac in their faces. My question to them is did anyone put a gun to your head and force you to get the three cheeseburgers. NO! I think that they put their hands on the steering wheel, drove to the Golden Arches and ordered the three Big Macs Didn’t they.

“Due to swine flu, state health officials are changing the way public schools report absences…” That was the beginning of the recorded message I got on my phone last night from the school district.

Now, because of this so-called pandemic, public schools have to report to State Health Officials EVERY student who is absent because of flu-like symptoms.

What are flu-like symptoms?

*fever of 100 degrees or higher

*sore throat,

*cough,

*body aches,

*runny nose

Give me a break. What illness doesn’t fit into that list?

So the big question is…….Am I going to be a good girl and tell the school that my children have flu-like symptoms when I call them in sick? Whatever.

(From the School Districts Website:) “Students or staff with influenza-like illness should stay home and not attend school for at least 7 days even if their symptoms resolve sooner. If after 7 days, the student or staff continues to have acute symptoms, he or she should stay home until 24 hours after these symptoms resolve. If you have questions, please contact your school’s Health Services Office.”

If my kids are sick, they’ll stay home until they’re better. Period. If they are better, they will go to school. I’m not keeping them out of school for a whole god damn week because they MIGHT have flu-LIKE symptoms for one day of that week. I WILL keep them out for as long as they need to for WHATEVER reason until they are well enough to go to school, whether it’s one day or three weeks. I will decide. It’s MY job to be the parent - NOT the governments. Fucking invasive pile of bullshit.

By the way, the number of people that die every year from staph infections would make this so-called swine flu epidemic look like a small piece of paradise. I don’t know. If was going to freak out about something, I’d freak out about Staph infections. The number of deaths caused by this nasty little infection is anywhere from 18,000 per year to 100,000 per year, (depending on who’s talking) and affects as many as 2 million people a year, give or take. I don’t know how many people die every year from contracting Staph in hospitals, and I don’t care enough to research it, but it’s plenty more than the number of people dying from Swine Flu. So if you’re thinking of going to a Hospital to fix your swine flu, well… good luck.

By the way, the TOTAL number of people that have died from Swine Flu in the USA, is 3. In case you missed that number, here it is again: THREE.

The TOTAL number of deaths from Swine Flu ON THE PLANET is 53. It’s an epidemic alright. With respect to that, am I going to report that my children’s symptoms are flu like? Fuck you. How’s that for an answer?
